Common use of Short Term Income Protection Clause in Contracts

Short Term Income Protection. Each full-time Staff Member will be credited at the beginning of each school year with twelve (12) days sick leave. Part-time Staff Members will be credited with sick leave days on a pro-rated basis. Sick leave may accrue to a maximum of ninety (90) days. Sick leave may be used for the Staff Member's own illness, disability, quarantine, or for essential treatments, examinations for diagnostic purposes, pregnancy and normal and customary postpartum, or other absences definitely related to the Staff Member's health, when such treatments, examinations, or absences can only occur during school hours. Normal and customary postpartum is considered up to six (6) weeks, and sick leave shall not be used to extend this six week period. Sick leave may also be used when the Staff Member's absence is required due to like conditions or illness of a dependent member of their immediate family. "Immediate family," as used in this Article, shall be interpreted to include husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, brother or sister of the Staff Member, or member of the immediate household of the Staff Member.
