Be careful to act in a manner that does not further damage and undermine self-esteem and confidence. Survivors of sexual violence, partner violence, and other GBV often suffer extreme physical and psychological trauma. They may feel trapped, powerless, and vulnerable as a result of the abuse that they have suffered. Therefore, when dealing with survivors of GBV, be sensitive to the abuse that they have endured and the likely effects of that abuse. Use a sympathetic voice.
