Skills and Duties. An employee at this level performs work to the extent of their skills, competence and training. Employees will acquire skills both formal and informal over time and with experience, and will undertake indicative tasks and duties within the scope of skills they possess. An employee at this level may be responsible for the supervision of one or more employees working at CW1, CW2, CW3 or CW4 level. An employee at this level: understands and applies quality control techniques; exercises good interpersonal and communication skills; exercises measuring and calculation skills at a higher level than CW4; exercises discretion within the scope of this grade; performs work of a trades or non-trades nature which is incidental or peripheral to the employee's main function and facilitates the completion of the whole task; is able to inspect products and/or materials for conformity with established operational standards; and assists in the provision of on-the-job training. Indicative tasks which an employee may perform at this level include the following: allocates functions within a Work Area Team; production sequencing and materials handling of a level more advanced than CW4; trade skills associated with certificated trades within the scope of this Award; has a sound understanding of the construction process, and operates and maintains plant, machinery and equipment. An employee A LV04 at this level may be responsible for the supervision demonstrates:  understanding of one or more employees working at CW1, CW2, CW3 or CW4 level. An employee at this level: understands and applies quality control techniques; exercises good interpersonal and communication skills; exercises measuring and calculation skills at a higher level than CW4; exercises discretion within the scope of this grade; performs work of a trades or non-trades nature which is incidental or peripheral to the employee's main function and facilitates the completion of the whole task; is able  ability to inspect products and/or materials for conformity with established operational standards;  good interpersonal communications skills;  ability to work in a safe manner as not to cause self injury or injury to others  ability to exercise discretion and utilise basic fault finding skills in the cause of their work;  ability to work under general supervision either individually or in a team environment;  can complete paperwork required to ensure projects are completed; and  ability to instruct apprentices in the correct performance of work. Indicative tasks that an employee may perform, at this level include (but not limited to): a) Building Trades Award  trade skills associated certificated trades within the scope of this Structure;  non-trade tasks incidental to their work;  informal on-the-job guidance to a limited degree;  instruction of apprentices in the correct performance of trade related skills;  has knowledge of work within the Plumbing and Mechanical Services sector of the Services stream, or General Construction, or the Off Site Construction stream. b) Engineering Award  approves and passes first off samples and maintains quality of product;  works from production drawings, prints or plans;  operates, sets up and adjusts all production machinery in a plant including production process welding to the extent of training;  can perform a range of engineering maintenance functions including:  lubrication of production equipment;  running adjustments to production equipment;  able to operate all lifting equipment;  basic production scheduling and materials handling within the scope of the production process or directly related functions within raw materials/finished goods locations in conjunction with technicians;  understands and applies computer techniques as they relate to production process operations;  operation of machinery requiring certification at 1A or 2A levels;  high level stores and inventory responsibility beyond the requirements of an employee at LV03;  assists in the provision of on-the-job training. Indicative tasks which an employee may perform at this level include the following: allocates functions within a Work Area Teamtraining in conjunction with tradespersons and trainers; production sequencing and materials handling of a level more advanced than CW4; trade skills associated with certificated trades within the scope of this Award;  has a sound understanding knowledge of QBuild's operations as it relates to the construction production process, and operates and maintains plant, machinery and equipment. An employee at this level: understands can interpret plans and applies quality control techniques; exercises good interpersonal and communication skills; exercises measuring and calculation skills at a higher level than CW4; exercises discretion within the scope of this grade; performs work of a trades or non-trades nature which is incidental or peripheral drawings relevant to the employee's main function and facilitates the completion of the whole taskemployees' functions; is able to inspect products and/or materials for conformity assists with established operational standards; and assists in the provision of on-the-job training; assumes responsibility for allocating tasks within a Work Area Team within the area of the employee's skill competence and training; has some responsibility for the order and purchase of materials within defined parameters; is able to sequence functions relevant to the employee's Work Area Team; and applies quality control techniques to the employees' own work and other employees within the Work Area Team. An employee at this level may be responsible for part of a self-directed Work Area Team (WAT), and may be required to perform a range of duties across the supervision of one or more employees working at CW1, CW2, CW3 or CW4 level2 main skill streams contained within this Award. An employee at this level: understands works from instructions and applies quality control techniquesprocedures; exercises good interpersonal and communication skills; exercises measuring and calculation skills at a higher level than CW4; exercises discretion within the scope of this grade; performs work of a trades or non-trades nature which is incidental or peripheral to the employee's main function and facilitates the completion of the whole task; is able to inspect products and/or materials for conformity with established operational standards; and assists in the provision of on-the-job trainingtraining to a limited degree; coordinates work in a team environment or works individually under general supervision; is responsible for assuring the quality of their own work; and has a qualification in First Aid.
