Common use of Special Qualifications Pay Clause in Contracts

Special Qualifications Pay. (A) Bilingual. A differential of five percent (5%) over base rate will be paid to employees in positions which specifically require bilingual skills (i.e., translation to and from English to another foreign language or the use of sign language) as a condition of employment. The interpretation and translation skills must be contained in an employee’s individual position’s position description. Employees who are required by their supervisor to utilize bilingual skills, but whose position description does not have such skills contained therein will be paid one-dollar ($1.00) per hour above the employee’s base rate for time performing these duties. If an employee is required to utilize bilingual skills during the course of a work day, they will be paid the differential for no less than thirty (30) minutes during the day.
