Specialist Pay. An employee designated as a Specialist and assigned to the Specialist Team shall receive a premium of three percent (3%) biweekly. This premium shall not be included for purposes of retirement benefit calculations or contributions. Specialists are subject to changes in watches and assigned work locations for operational reasons. The number of Specialist positions available per shift or location shall be determined by the Chief or his/her designee.

Specialist Pay. Whenever the Fire Chief assigns employees in the following described classes and pay grades to those duties set forth below, the employees shall receive an additional increment of salary while so assigned. Such additional increment of salary, over and above the compensation attached to the class and pay grade, shall be paid only while an employee is regularly assigned, unless otherwise indicated. All rates below are effective July 1, 2009, unless otherwise noted.
Specialist Pay. 21.1 All percentage increases awarded in this Article are over and above the regular annual salary in a calendar year. 21.2 A member designated by the Chief of Police as a member of the Identification Unit shall be compensated as follows: a) A member working as an Identification Officer shall receive one (1) percent their first year and an additional one (1) percent in their second year, and one (1) percent their third year, for a total of three (3) percent. b) Entitlements under this Article will cease upon the member attaining the rank of Sergeant or higher. 21.3 A member designated by the Chief of Police as a member of the Traffic Unit shall be compensated as follows: a) One and one half (1.5) percent once they have successfully completed Level III Traffic and an additional one and one half (1.5) percent after successfully completing Level IV Traffic Reconstruction over and above their regular annual salary. b) Maximum entitlement in Article 21.3 shall be no greater than three
Specialist Pay. (a) All members below the rank of sergeant who are employed on a full-time basis in the Technical Services Section and have graduated from a recognized identification and photography course, and in respect thereof have qualified as expert witnesses for court purposes, shall be designated specialists and shall be paid an annual salary of a first-class constable specialist, as indicated on Schedule A attached hereto. Specialist Pay. All members assigned to duties in the Forensic Identification Branch shall, upon successful completion of the Forensic Identification Course, receive a pay increase equivalent to 50% of the difference between the rate of a First Class Constable and the rank of Sergeant. Effective January 1, 2007 this percentage is set to reflect a pay increase of 25% of the difference. Such payment shall be in effect only during the period of time such member is assigned to the Forensic Identification Branch. Calculations, in this instance, recognize the base rate of pay of a First Class Constable as that set out in the appended Schedule of Salaries and does not include the Municipal Policing Allowance where applicable.
Specialist Pay. A two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) lump sum payment will be paid annually to members in the following positions: Breathalyzer/Intoxilyzer Technician Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) CERT Team Members Negotiators Drug Recognition Officers Level 4 Traffic Officers Designated Drug Expert (for the purpose of Specialist Pay, must be qualified as such by a member of the Ontario Judiciary in the course of a proceeding involving the Police Service. Once so qualified, a letter from the Crown must be presented to the Employer confirming that the member has been designated as an expert witness. To continue to qualify for this pay, the member is required to produce to the Employer further confirmation of the designation on an annual basis. The employees designated as a Communicator Classroom Instructor shall receive annually, effective January 1st, 2014, a lump sum payment of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) in compensation for this assignment.
Specialist Pay. Members who are, by mutual agreement of the Employer and the Union, designated as “specialists” shall receive an additional five percent (5%) of a First Class Constable’s rate of pay in recognition of the following factors: (a) Requirement to standby: the designated members are subject to call back as part of their specialist function. (b) Disruption to private life: the designated members off duty time is in some way effected by their specialty. (c) Limitations to career moves: the designated members commitment to the given specialty restricts his/her ability to accept other career moves. (d) Off duty training time: the designated members are expected to maintain certain levels of ability and/or physical fitness which is in addition to the normal designated training days. (e) Specialized skills in the given areas: The designated members have obtained a high level of skill in their specialty which are not found at the same level in the general membership. (f) Where a member receiving Specialist Pay is absent from duty due to sickness or injury for a period in excess of thirty-one (31) days, and where such absence prevents the member from performing or being affected by the factors that result in Specialist Pay, that member shall not receive Specialist Pay during the period they are absent from duty. Members designated as “Specialists” pursuant to this Article are: (a) Members of the Emergency Response Team (b) Members of the Forensic Identification Section (c) Members assigned as Dog Handlers (d) Members appointed as Forensic Computer Analysts An allowance of fifty dollars ($50.00) per month shall be paid to members of the Integrated Dive Team, members designated as a Crisis Negotiator, members designated as a Police Explosive Technician, or members, with a level 4 designation, appointed as a Collision Re-Constructionist.

Specialist Pay. 47.1 Effective January 1, 2018, Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) shall be paid an allowance of one percent (1%) of base salary while assigned to SOCO duties. 47.2 Effective January 1, 2018, Breath Alcohol Technicians shall be paid an allowance of one percent (1%) of base salary for the entire period the member is designated to perform those duties. 47.3 The Breath Alcohol Technician allowance is payable at the same time and in the same fashion as the Detective Services Unit allowance.
