Paramedic. A person who is no longer assigned as a Paramedic will be paid at the appropriate step of their Firefighter classification based upon their years of service (seniority).
Paramedic. □ Pass a criminal background check (within the past 12 months from the applicant’s start date). 1 □ Pass and have a current (within the past six months from the applicant’s start date) 10 panel drug screen.1 □ Currently licensed as a Florida State EMT. HCI College EMT Graduates must receive their Florida EMT license prior to Semester II of the Paramedic Program. Pass the Student Assessment for Distance Education □ Pass the Student Assessment for Distance Education □ Pass the SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator with a minimum score of 70% in Technical Competency, 70% in Life Factors, and 60% in Technical Knowledge. □ Pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with a minimum composite score of 55 (please see the TEAS policy for further information) or earn a minimum score of 80 on each of the following sections on the HESI A2 Exam: Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary and Knowledge, Anatomy and Physiology, and Math. The results of the HESI A2 will be accepted for up to one year after the test date of the exam. □ Must sign the Background Check and Drug Screening Acknowledgement.1 □ Pass a criminal background check (within the past 12 months from the applicant’s start date).1 * □ Pass and have a current (within the past six months from the applicant’s start date) 10 panel drug screen.1 * □ Be currently licensed as a Paramedic. □ Pass the SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator with a minimum score of 70% in Technical Competency, 70% in Life Factors, and 60% in Technical Knowledge. □ Have a current registered nurse license with completion of their Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent prior to admission, provide proof of an active RN license, and provide transcripts with proof of completion of their Associate Degree in Nursing. □ Pass the SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator with a minimum score of 70% in Technical Competency, 70% in Life Factors, and 60% in Technical Knowledge.
Paramedic. An individual trained and licensed to perform advanced life-support (ALS) procedures under the direction of a physician, and whose scope of practice to provide advanced life support is according to the California Code of Regulations and whom has a valid license issued pursuant to California Health and Safety Code.
Paramedic. Minimum requirement is State of Florida Paramedic Certification to bid Paramedic positions. Paramedic bids will be awarded to the senior certified bidder. Bid preference is:
(1) Department protocol certified paramedics. (State of Florida Certified Paramedic with Department Protocols)
(2) State of Florida certified paramedics. (Must become Department certified (Protocols) during the bid period).
Paramedic. For purposes of this MOU, is an employee who maintains paramedic certification and is authorized by the City EMS Medical Director to work in the City EMS System.
Paramedic. 1. Employees in the following classes and pay grades who are required to maintain a Paramedic license and are regularly assigned to an authorized paramedic position shall receive additional compensation as follows: 2112-2 Firefighter II Schedule 4 2112-3 Firefighter III Schedule 5 Should any member of this Unit who is receiving the paramedic bonus under this section fail to maintain his/her paramedic certification, the above compensation shall be withheld until such time as he/she obtains certification and is reassigned to an authorized paramedic position.
2. Firefighters who are not regularly assigned to an authorized paramedic position shall be paid $4.00 per hour for actual hours worked in a paramedic position.
3. Each June 30 during the term of this MOU, licensed Paramedics in ranks other than Firefighter who have maintained a Paramedic license and local accreditation during the preceding year shall receive a $600 bonus as long as they have been compensated for no more than 288 hours under paragraph 2. above.
4. Fire Captains in the following class, 2142-1, when regularly assigned to a position requiring a Paramedic license, shall be eligible to receive assignment pay of $220.00 biweekly.
Paramedic maximum of 365 days to complete.
Paramedic. Any employee, who has a current paramedic license shall be compensated an additional five percent 5% of the employee’s base monthly salary. In situations where a regular firefighter/paramedic is not available, any employee receiving paramedic pay may be required to perform paramedic functions until a full-time firefighter/paramedic replacement can be arranged. This incentive requires employees to have paramedic accreditation in the ICEMA region.

2. Firefighters who are not regularly assigned to an authorized paramedic position shall receive premium pay of $5.00 per hour for actual hours worked in a paramedic position.
3. Each June 30 during the term of this MOU, licensed Paramedics in ranks other than Firefighter who have maintained a Paramedic license and local accreditation during the preceding year shall receive a $600 bonus as long as they have been compensated for no more than 288 hours under paragraph 2 above.
4. Fire Captains (2142), when regularly assigned to a position requiring a Paramedic license, shall receive premium pay of 4.25% of Step 6 of Schedule 8. These employees shall not be eligible for the $600 bonus specified in paragraph 3 above.
5. Fire Captains who are regularly assigned as EMS Battalion Captains or EMS Geographic Bureau Captains, regardless of whether they are dual function or single function paramedics, shall be compensated under Schedule 9.
