Emergency Medical Technician. 1. Employees occupying positions under Items 8140, 8143, 8144, and 8146 shall be compensated an additional amount above the base salary as specified in Appendix A, in accordance with the survey formula provisions in Appendix D, for obtaining and maintaining all EMT-1 and EMT-D.

Emergency Medical Technician. On or about December 1 of each contract year, the State shall pay a four hundred dollar ($400) annual skill premium to each employee who is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician, and who has volunteered and been designated by the agency to provide such services at his/her work location during the prior contract year.

Emergency Medical Technician. Should any of the employees covered by this Agreement be required by the Employer to attend a seminar or participate in training to maintain their license, the Employer shall reimburse the employee for all necessary expenses per Board policy.

Each employee shall be expected to be trained and certified, and to maintain at minimum a local accreditation and State certification as an EMT-1. Emergency Medical Technician. ‌ Unit employees who have successfully completed all facets of the EMT or Paramedic certification requirements shall receive the hourly equivalent of $150 per month ($0.62 per hour) upon receipt of the certification and during such time as the certification is maintained. Compensation will be paid on the next regular pay day after such certification is confirmed and the compensation adjustment can be processed. Paramedics shall also receive EMT certification pay. The parties agree that to the extent permitted by law, the compensation in this section is special compensation and shall be reported as such pursuant to Title 2 CCR, Section 571(a)(2) Emergency Medical Technician Pay.‌

Emergency Medical Technician. Emergency Medical Technicians shall work a 40-hour work week, 7 calendar day cycle. A flexible or staggered work schedule averaging forty (40) hours per week and providing for more economical and efficient functioning may be established by the Division Chief with the approval of the Fire Chief or his/her designated representative, provided that such new schedule shall not provide for a work shift in excess of twelve (12) hours and provided further that all Emergency Medical Technicians affected by such change in work schedule shall continue to receive as many gross hours of sick leave, sick leave converted to vacation, and vacation as they would have had, had their schedules not been changed. If agreed to by the authorized representatives of the Union and the City, an alternative work schedule may be used during the term of this Agreement.
