Spouse-Group Health Insurance. The City agrees to allow the spouse of an officer who is killed in the performance of official duties, or dies later as a result of injuries incurred in the performance of official duties, to continue WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, the City Group Health Insurance Plan on the spouse and any qualified dependent children or children subsequently born as a result of the marriage; said cost shall be born by the City for a period not to exceed forty-eight (48) months or the spouses’ remarriage, whichever occurs sooner. The spouse may extend the coverage under the provisions of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) of 1986 as amended, at 100% of the actual premium cost to the City. Upon the date of the spouse's remarriage, all insurance coverage will cease on the spouse and dependent children.
