Standby Pay. 41.1 Where the Council requires an employee to be available on either primary or backup standby during off-duty hours, that employee shall be entitled to a standby payment of one-half (1/2) hour’s pay, at the straight time rate, for each 4 hours or portion thereof of standby. 41.2 An employee designated for standby duty shall be available during his period of standby at a known telephone number and be able to return for duty as quickly as possible. 41.3 No standby payment shall be made if an employee is unable to report for duty when required. 41.4 An employee on standby who is called in to work and who reports for work shall be compensated in accordance with the Call-Back provisions of this Agreement.
