Steps in the Grievance Procedure. 1. STEP ONE (Informal Discussion with Immediate Supervisor): The grievant shall first discuss the grievance orally and in person or by telephone with the grievant’s immediate supervisor. This shall be a personal discussion between the grievant and the grievant’s immediate supervisor. If the Union is initiating the grievance, the discussion shall be between the Union’s Business Representative and the College’s Director of Labor Relations/General Counsel.
