Surviving Spouse Benefit for Retiree on Duty Disability Retirement. A surviving spouse of a retiree who is receiving a duty disability pension at the time of death shall continue to receive the same duty disability pension benefit throughout the life of the surviving spouse. It is understood that this would entitle the surviving spouse to the same benefit he/she would receive had the retiree lived to the age of fifty-five (55) years and has selected their spouse as beneficiary under Act 345.
