Re-employment After Retirement. Employees who have reached retirement age as prescribed under the Pension (Municipal) Act and continue in the Employer's service, or are re-engaged within three (3) calendar months of retirement, shall continue at their former increment step in the pay rate structure of the classification in which they are employed, and the employee's previous anniversary date shall be maintained. All perquisites earned up to the date of retirement shall be continued or reinstated.

B. Nothing in this Section constitutes a guarantee of employment. Approval for such employment will be made on an individual basis by the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources (or designee). Such employees shall be rehired as hourly teachers or as annual contract teachers; and the latter shall receive the same benefits as regular teachers for the term of their employment and shall receive pay in accordance with Section 4.C below. For purposes of continued employment, the provisions of Article XIII, Section 5 do not apply.
C. Former certificated employees who have retired from any school system in-state or out-of-state who are hired or rehired by M-DCPS shall be provided an increase above the minimum salary of the salary schedule as stipulated in Appendix E, Section 2-C (1,2,3).
D. Re-employed retirees who accrue sick leave days subsequent to retirement shall be paid at the daily rate they earned at the time they first became eligible for retirement.
