Common use of TEACHERS’ ASSISTANTS Clause in Contracts

TEACHERS’ ASSISTANTS. 1. All teachers' assistants, (people excluded from the Bargaining Unit, including but not limited to, Education Assistants, Youth Care Workers and Aboriginal Education Support) hired to assist teachers in carrying out their responsibilities shall be under the immediate supervision of those teachers to whom they are assigned as approved by the appropriate Principal. 2. The primary responsibility of the designing, implementing, supervising and assessing educational programs, evaluating students or educational programs remains with the teacher who may be assisted in that purpose by a Teacher Assistant. 3. Except under the immediate supervision of teachers, the foregoing shall not perform any of the duties of teachers as defined in the School Act and Regulations. 4. Teachers will not be required to submit written evaluations of any Teacher Assistants. Teachers may provide input into the evaluation process.
