Common use of Temporary Promotion Clause in Contracts

Temporary Promotion. An employee temporarily promoted to a higher classification to fill in for an absent employee for one (1) shift or longer, shall receive the next higher rate of pay in the higher classification. During these periods of one (1) day or more, one (1) person shall be assigned the temporary promotion. Employees who are temporarily transferred to a position outside the bargaining unit shall be credited with their full seniority on their return. An employee temporarily promoted for three (3) months or more to a higher classification shall receive credit on the salary grid for the period of the temporary promotion if he/she is subsequently promoted permanently to the higher classification.
