THE EMPLOYER AND THE UNION SHALL ACQUAINT NEW EMPLOYEES. a) The Employer agrees to acquaint new Employees with the fact that a Collective Agreement is in effect and with the responsibilities and obligations of the Employer. b) The Employer will make available to all new Employees a copy of the current Collective Agreement at date of hiring and will provide copies to other Employees on request. 5.02 On commencing employment, the Human Resources Manager will inform the Union Secretary, in writing, that a new Employee has been hired. 5.03 A shop xxxxxxx or other officer of the Union shall be given the opportunity to interview each new Employee within regular working hours and without loss of pay for a maximum of thirty (30) minutes within one week of hire at a mutually agreeable time with the manager. This is done for the purpose of discussing with the new Employee the benefits of Union membership and their responsibilities and obligations to the Union and the Employer.
