The Vessels Day Scheme Sample Clauses

The Vessels Day Scheme. Concept. In response to the issues, in 2000 the Parties to the Palau Arrangement commissioned consultants to undertake a comprehensive review and analysis of the purposes, objectives and principles of the Palau Arrangement. The major recommendation of the consultants was to replace the limits on vessel numbers by fleet with limits on vessel days by zone. The Parties accepted the recommendation, and decided to replace the limits on vessel numbers by fleet in the Arrangement with limits on purse seine fishing days in the waters of each Party. The purse seine fishing day limits will be implemented by a Management Scheme called the Vessel Day Scheme (VDS). As noted above, this scheme will come into force on December 1, 2007.
