Time Period for Selection of Benefits. Teachers may elect to participate and select benefits once each plan year. The plan year shall begin September 1 and end August 31. Benefits selected cannot be changed except as provided in Section 5 until the beginning of the next plan year. For most teachers, this will be August, but may vary for teachers resigning or being discharged during the school year, or for teachers whose contracts commence prior to regular classroom teachers, such as vocational teachers and guidance counselors. Teachers hired after the start of the new school year will be placed on the roster for those covered no later than forty (40) days following the first working day for the teacher.
