TOTAL AND PERMANENT DISABILITY PENSION - EMPLOYEES HIRED ON OR AFTER JULY 1, 2013 IN MERS. Employees hired on or after July 1, 2013 and who have elected to be enrolled in MERS seeking a disability pension shall file their application with MERS and shall be subject to MERS statutory regulations regarding the application process. The decision to grant or deny the employee’s application shall be made by the State Retirement Board pursuant to the applicable state statutes and rules and regulations of MERS.
