Common use of Uncompensated Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Uncompensated Leave of Absence. A pregnant unit member who wishes to be absent from the position before she is disabled from pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth or recovery from these, or beyond the termination of such disability, or both, may request such leave of absence in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement applicable to uncompensated leaves, subject to the following exceptions: 17.5.4.1 In the event that a female unit member’s child is born between the first day of the work year and December 31 of any year, the unit member may request uncompensated leave until the following first day of the work year. In the event that the child is born between January 1 and the first day of the work year, the maximum uncompensated leave, if granted, would terminate no later than the first day of the succeeding work year.
