Unpaid Family Leave under the Employment Standards Act. In accordance with the Employment Standards Act, an employer shall grant to an employee a leave of absence without pay of up to three (3) days in each calendar year to meet responsibilities related to the health, care or education of a person in a close family relationship with the employee. This unpaid leave is in addition to the entitlements outlined above. An employee intending to take such a leave of absence shall provide their supervisor with as much notice as possible of their intention to take this leave.
