Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. Employees may utilize accrued lieu time, float holidays or accrued vacation for situations of Emergency leave as recognized under the Ontario Employment Standards Act.
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. The Employer shall grant up to five (5) days family related leave with pay in a fiscal year to full-time employees to be used in any combination for the following reasons:
(a) To take a dependent family member for medical or dental appointments, or for appointments with appropriate authorities in school or adoption agencies. An employee is expected to make reasonable efforts to schedule medical or dental appointments for dependent family members to minimize their absence from work. An employee requesting leave under this provision must notify their supervisor of the appointment as far in advance as possible;
(b) For the temporary care of a sick member of the employee’s immediate family;
(c) For the needs directly related to the birth of an employee’s child. This leave may be divided into two (2) separate periods and granted on separate days;
(d) For the needs directly related to the adoption of the employee’s child. This leave may be divided into two (2) separate periods and granted on separate days.
(e) To attend school functions if the supervisor was notified of the function as far in advance as possible.
(f) To provide for the employees child in the case of an unforeseeable closure of the school or daycare facility.
(g) To attend an appointment with a legal or paralegal representative or with a financial representative if the supervisor was notified of the appointment as far in advance as possible.
(h) To attend emergencies beyond the control of the employee.
(i) To attend a house-hunting trip for relocation of spouse.
(j) The total leave with pay, which may be granted under this Article shall not exceed five (5) working days in any fiscal year.
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. (a) For the purpose of sub-clause (b) below, family is defined as:
(i) spouse, including common-law spouse;
(ii) children (including children of legal or common-law spouse);
(iii) parents (including step-parents or xxxxxx parents);
(iv) brother, sister;
(v) any relative residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
(b) At the request of an employee, he/she shall be granted leave with pay for family related responsibilities, as follows:
(i) to take a dependent family member for medical or dental appointments, or for appointments with school authorities or adoption agencies; the employee who requests a leave pursuant to this clause should make every reasonable effort to schedule these appointments to minimize or preclude his/her absence from work;
(ii) for the temporary care of a sick member of the employee's family and to provide the employee with time to make alternate care arrangements where the illness is of a longer duration;
(iii) for needs directly related to the birth or the adoption of a child.
(c) The total leave with pay which may be granted under sub-clause (b) shall not exceed five (5) days in a fiscal year.
(d) Seven decimal five (7.5) hours out of the thirty-seven decimal five (37.5) hours stipulated in clause (c) above may be used:
(i) to attend school functions, if the supervisor was notified of the functions as far in advance as possible;
(ii) to provide for the employee’s child in the case of an unforeseeable closure of the school or daycare facility;
(iii) to attend an appointment with a legal or paralegal representative for non- employment related matters, or with a financial or other professional representative, if the supervisor was notified of the appointment as far in advance as possible.
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. The Employer shall grant up to five (5) days family related leave with pay in a fiscal year to full-time employees and twenty (20) hours to part-time employees to be used in any combination for the following reasons:
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities a) The employer shall grant leave with pay under the following circumstances:
i) up to one -half (½) day for a medical or dental appointment when the dependent family member is incapable of attending the appointment by himself or herself, or for appointments with appropriate authorities in school or adoption agencies. An employee is expected to make reasonable efforts to schedule medical or dental appointments for dependent family members to minimize his or her absence from work. An employee requesting leave under this provision must notify his or her supervisor of the appointment as far in advance as possible.
ii) up to two (2) consecutive days of leave with pay for the temporary care of a sick member of the employee's immediate family.
iii) to an employee one (1) day's leave with pay for the needs directly related to the birth of an employee's child. This leave may be divided into two (2) separate periods and granted on separate days;
iv) to an employee one (1) day's leave with pay for the needs directly related to the adoption of the employee's child. This leave may be divided into two (2) separate periods and granted on separate days.
b) The total leave with pay, which may be granted under sub-clause a) (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv) shall not exceed five (5) working days in any fiscal year.
c) For the purposes of this clause, family is defined as spouse or common-law spouse resident with the employee), dependent children (including children of legal or common- law spouse), parents (including step-parents or xxxxxx parents), or any relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. 13.11 a) The Employer shall, upon the request of an employee:
i) grant the employee leaves of absence without pay of up to three (3) days during a twelve (12) calendar month period to meet responsibilities related to the health, care or education of a person in a close family relationship with the employee.
ii) In accordance with the Employment Standards Act, an employer shall grant to an employee a leave of absence without pay of up to three (3) days in each calendar year to meet responsibilities related to the health, care or education of a person in a close family relationship with the employee. This unpaid leave is in addition to the entitlements outlined above. An employee intending to take such leave shall advise the Employer of the employee’s intentions to take the leave, the anticipated commencement date of the leave and, subject to the above, the anticipated duration of the leave.

(h) The total leave with pay, which may be granted under this Article, can be taken in hourly increments and, shall not exceed five (5) working days in any fiscal year. For the purposes of this Article, family is defined as spouse or common-law spouse resident with the employee, dependent children (including children of legal or common-law spouse), parents (including step-parents or xxxxxx parents), grandchildren, or any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. Employees may be absent from work for up to 10 working days per year to carry out obligations relating to the custody, health or education of their child or their spouse’s child, or to the health of their spouse, father, mother, brother, sister or grandparent. This leave may be divided into days.
Leave for Family Related Responsibilities. (a) The Employer shall grant up to seven (7) days family related leave with pay in a fiscal year to full-time Employees and up to forty-two (42) hours for part- time Employees to be used in any combination for the following reasons:
(i) To take a dependent family member for medical or dental appointments, or for appointments with appropriate authorities in school or adoption agencies. An Employee is expected to make reasonable efforts to schedule medical or dental appointments for dependent family members to minimize their absence from work. An Employee requesting leave under this provision must notify their supervisor of the appointment as far in advance as possible.
(ii) For the temporary care of a sick member of the

(b) For the purposes of this Article, family is defined as spouse (or common-law spouse, resident with the Employee), dependent children (including children of legal or common-law spouse), parents (including step- parents or xxxxxx parents), grandchildren, grandparents, or any relative permanently residing in the Employee’s household or for whom the Employee has a duty of care whether they reside with the Employee or not.
(c) At the Employee’s option, this leave may be taken in hourly increments.
(d) This leave may not be carried over into a subsequent year.
