Common use of Unused Sick Leave/Termination Clause in Contracts

Unused Sick Leave/Termination. Upon termination, any unused accrued sick leave, up to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) days, shall be paid at the following rate: Years of Service Percentage (%) of Base Salary 5-10 years 27.5 10-15 years 40 15-20 years 60 20-25 years 70 25 yrs + years 80 In lieu of payoff of sick leave at the above rates, City has amended the PERS contract to add Section 20862.8 of the California Government Code (Credit for Unused Sick Leave). Unused accumulated sick leave at time of retirement, up to the maximum of 150 days, may be converted to additional Service Credit."
