Use of Accrued Sick, Comp and Vacation Time. The twelve (12) weeks leave under the family and medical leave article consists of unpaid leave. An employee may elect to use vacation for any portion of the twelve (12) week period for the birth or adoption of a child, or for the serious health condition of a spouse or parent. When leave is required due to the serious health condition of an employee, the employee must use sick leave which has been accrued in excess of 30 days for any part of the twelve (12) week period. The sick leave used shall run concurrently with the FMLA leave. The employee may elect to use the remaining portion of their sick leave for other unpaid FMLA leave which is attributable to the serious health condition of the employee.
