USE OF OTHER LEAVES FOR SICK LEAVE PURPOSES. The Employer may allow an employee to use other types of leave in lieu of sick leave when available sick leave has been exhausted. Such leave shall be applied in the following order: 1. comp time until exhausted; 2. holiday leave until exhausted; 3. vacation leave until exhausted; then 4. the floating holiday(s). The floating holiday must be used in full shift increments. Exceptions to the order of other leaves used may be made to avoid the loss of the employee’s holiday leave, vacation leave, or the floating holiday. In addition, an employee whose leave is covered under the FMLA may elect to reserve their comp time balance, as provided by Article 13.7. The Employer may deny an employee’s use of other leaves in lieu of sick leave if the employee has received written notice or disciplinary action for attendance problems within the last two (2) years.
