ASSOCIATION SECURITY. 5.01 The Hospital will deduct from each nurse covered by this Agreement an amount equal to the regular monthly Association dues designated by the Association. The deduction period for a part-time nurse may be extended where the nurse does not receive any pay in a particular month. Where a nurse has no dues deducted during the payroll period from which dues are normally deducted, that deduction shall be made in the next payroll period provided the nurse has earnings in the next payroll period. If the failure to deduct dues results from an error by the Hospital, then, as soon as the error is called to its attention by the union, the Hospital shall make the deduction in the manner agreed to by the parties. If there is no agreement, the Hospital shall make the deduction in the manner prescribed by the union. 5.02 Such dues shall be deducted monthly and in the case of newly employed nurses, such deductions shall commence in the month following their date of hire. 5.03 The amount of the regular monthly dues shall be those authorized by the Association and the Vice-President, Finance of the Association shall notify the Hospital of any changes therein and such notification shall be the Hospital's conclusive authority to make the deduction specified. In the case of any local dues levies, notification will be made by the local treasurer and such notification shall be the Hospital’s conclusive authority to make the deduction specified. 5.04 In consideration of the deducting and forwarding of Association dues by the Hospital, the Association agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Hospital against any claims or liabilities arising or resulting from the operation of this Article. 5.05 The amounts so deducted shall be remitted monthly to the Vice-President, Finance of the Association, no later than the end of the month following the month in which the dues were deducted. In remitting such dues, the Hospital shall provide a list of nurses from whom deductions were made, their work site (if the bargaining unit covers more than one site) and the nurses’ social insurance numbers, amount of dues deducted and, where feasible, the Hospital shall also provide the job classification, and status of the nurses. The list shall also include deletions and additions from the preceding month highlighting new hires, resignations, terminations, new unpaid leave of absence of greater than one (1) month and returns from leaves of absence. ASSOCIATION SECURITY. 2501 A copy of this Collective Agreement shall be provided by the Association to each employee bound by the Agreement. The cost of printing shall be shared equally by the Employer and the Association. The Association will provide sufficient copies for Employer administration needs. 2502 All employees who are Association members in good standing or who may subsequently become Associa- tion members in good standing shall as a condition of employment maintain Association membership during the life of this Agreement. All employees who are not Association members shall not be required to become members as a condition of employment. All new employees hired shall as a condition of employment, become Association members within ninety (90) days from the date of employment and shall as a condition of employment, remain Association members in good standing during the life of this Agreement. During the thirty (30) day interval immediately preceding the renewal date of this Agreement, any member may make application to the Association requesting termination of her membership.

There shall be no deduction from a part-time nurse in a month in which the nurse does not work. 7.03 The Association shall notify the Employer in writing of any changes in the amount of such regular Association dues at least one month prior to the effective date of such change. 7.04 The Employer will send to the Association monthly, its cheque for the dues so deducted, along with the list of the names and amount of such deductions for each nurse. The list shall show terminations, new hires, commencement and/or termination dates of leaves of absence in excess of thirty days, and the social insurance number. A copy of this list will be sent to the Bargaining Unit President. 7.05 The Association shall indemnify and save the Employer harmless from any claims from nurses as a result of dues having been collected in accordance with the terms of this agreement. 7.06 It is understood and agreed that the Employer has the responsibility for the deduction of dues. 7.07 The Employer shall provide each nurse with a T4 slip, showing the dues deducted in the previous year for income tax purposes and a duly completed and signed T2200 slip. 7.08 The Employer will co-operate in the provision of access by the Association to the system by providing a mailbox for ONA, for the sole purpose of notification of members regarding Association related matters. No nurse will be reprimanded for leaving a message on a nurse’(s) or team’s voice mail when such message pertains to notification regarding Association related matters. The Association shall abide by the procedures established for the system. There shall be no additional cost to the Employer.

A copy of this list will be sent to the local Association. The Hospital agrees that an officer of the Association or nurse representative shall be allowed a reasonable period during regular working hours to interview newly hired nurses during their probationary period. During such interview, membership forms may be provided to the nurse. These interviews shall be scheduled in advance as determined by local negotiation and may be arranged collectively or individually by the Hospital. NOTE: The list provided for in Article shall include any other information that is currently provided to Additionally, the Hospital will provide each nurse with a Supplementary Slip showing the dues deducted in the previous year for income tax purposes where such information is or becomes readily available through the Hospital's payroll system.
ASSOCIATION SECURITY. 6.01 The Employer shall deduct each month from the wages of employees covered by Article 1 - Recognition, such monthly dues as may be adopted and designated by the Association. The Association dues shall be deducted from the employee's pay each month beginning with the month in which the employee commences employment. 6.02 The Vice-President, Finance of the Association shall notify the Employer in writing of the amount of such dues and shall notify the Employer in writing of any changes to these amounts during the term of this Agreement.
ASSOCIATION SECURITY. Section 1. Employees covered by the terms of this Agreement shall not be required to become members of the Association but must, as a term and condition of employment, pay a representation fee to the Association. Section 2. Upon receipt of a written authorization from an employee covered by this Agreement, the Employer shall deduct from the employee's pay the amount owed to the Association by such employee for dues or a representation fee. The Employer will remit to the Association such sums within 30 calendar days. Changes in the Association membership dues rate and representation fee will be certified to the Employer in writing over the signature of the authorized officer or officers of the Association and shall be done at least 30 calendar days in advance of such change. Section 3. All employees covered by the terms of this Agreement shall within 30 days of the signing of this Agreement, or within 30 days of employment, whichever is later, pay dues or the representation fee to the Association. Employees who fail to comply with this requirement shall be discharged by the Employer within 30 days after receipt of written notice of default by the Association. The Association may make written notice of default and demand for discharge after the 30-day period specified above. The Employer shall initiate appropriate discharge actions under this Section to insure discharge of the affected employee(s) on the 30th day from receipt by the Employer of the Association's written notice of default and demand for discharge. Section 4. The Employer, within 30 days of the signing of this Agreement, shall present the Association with a list of names and addresses of all current employees covered by this Agreement, and shall update such list each month for all new hires. Section 5. The Association will indemnify, defend and hold the Employer harmless against any claim made and against any suit instituted against the Employer, including attorney's fees and costs of defense thereof, on account of any provision of this Article.
ASSOCIATION SECURITY. A. All teachers employed by the Board, as a condition of continued employment, shall join the Association or pay a service fee to the Association. This service fee shall be set by the Association, but shall not exceed the proportional cost attributable to collective bargaining, grievance adjustment and contract administration. B. All teachers who elect to join the Association shall sign and deliver to the Association, if they have not already done so, an authorization for payroll deduction of membership dues of the Association. This authorization shall continue in effect from year to year unless the teacher notifies the Board and the Association in writing in August of any year that the teacher no longer authorizes deduction of membership dues of the Association. If this notice is timely delivered, it shall mean that in the coming school year the teacher shall pay the service fee as described in the above Section A via payroll deduction. C. For those teachers who have not delivered an authorization card by October 1 of the first year of this contract, the Board agrees to deduct the annual service fee, as set by the Association, from their salaries via payroll deduction. The amount of this service fee shall be certified by the Association to the Board prior to the opening of the school year. D. Those teachers commencing employment after the start of the school year shall, within thirty (30) days of such commencement, sign and deliver to the Board an authorization card as described in Section B, or be subject to Section C after such thirty (30) days. The amount of dues or service fee under this section shall be a prorated amount to the percentage of the remaining school year. E. No later than the first paycheck in October of each year, the Board shall provide the Association with a list of all certified employees, below the rank of assistant principal, employed by the Board. The Board shall notify the Association monthly of any changes in this list. F. The Association agrees to indemnify and hold the Board harmless against any or all claims, demands, suits, or other forms or liability that shall or may arise out of or by reason of action taken by the Board for the purpose of complying with the provisions of this article.

ASSOCIATION SECURITY. 7.01 The Employer will deduct from each nurse, including both full-time and part-time nurses covered by this Agreement an amount equal to the regular monthly Association dues designated by the Association. Such deduction shall be made from the second [2nd] pay each month and such monies shall be forwarded to the Association’s Business Office at its Toronto Office not later than fifteen (15) days after deduction. 7.02 The remittance in Article 7.01 hereof shall be accompanied by a list showing names, Social Insurance Numbers, whether the nurse is full-time or part-time and amount of deduction of all nurses covered by this Agreement who have been employed at any time during the period of the said deduction. 7.03 The Employer will deduct from the pay of all newly employed nurses an amount equal to the monthly dues commencing from the first [1st] deduction date following date of employment. 7.04 The Employer shall provide each nurse with a statement of dues deduction for income tax purposes (T-4 Supplementary Slip). 7.05 The Association shall indemnify and save harmless the Employer with respect to all dues so deducted and remitted. 7.06 The Association shall notify the Employer from time to time as changes occur of the amount of the Association’s monthly dues. 7.07 During the first two (2) weeks of employment a local representative of the Association shall be allowed up to fifteen (15) minutes of time within working hours to interview all newly employed nurses. Such interview shall take place on the Employer’s premises at a time and place mutually agreed upon by the new nurse, the representative and the Director of Care. The purpose of said interview is to discuss the duties and benefits of Association membership and to give out Collective Agreements, membership forms and other relevant Association material. Nurses will be allowed to join the Association at any time.
ASSOCIATION SECURITY. C-1 In reference to Article 5.06, the Hospital will schedule to have an officer of the Union or union representative interview newly hired employees as part of the Hospital Orientation Program.
ASSOCIATION SECURITY. 3.01 It is agreed that Employees who are at present members of the Association shall remain so as a condition of employment. It is further agreed that Employees who are hereafter employed by the Municipality shall become members of the Association at the beginning of the bi-weekly pay period immediately following the Employee's first working day of employment and shall remain members of the Association as a condition of employment provided that no Employee shall be deprived of employment by reason of loss of Association membership for any reason other than failure to pay regular dues. 3.02 Provided that each Employee has signed an “Application For Association Membership” form and has signed a “Fees and Dues Authorization” form and provided that such “Fees and Dues Authorization” form is not revoked, in writing by the Employee, the Municipality will, commencing from the Employee's first working day of employment, deduct from the pay of each Employee covered by this Collective Agreement, all fees and regular dues as authorized by the Employee and as determined by the Association in accordance with its Constitution, and will transmit the total amount so deducted to the Association.
