USING YOUR CHROMEBOOK AT SCHOOL. ● Chromebooks are intended for use at school each day. ● In addition to teacher expectations for Chromebook use, school messages, announcements, calendars, and schedules may be accessed using the Chromebook. ● Students must be responsible to bring their Chromebook to all classes unless specifically advised not to do so by their teacher. ● Chromebooks should be locked in lockers when not in use. 4a: Chromebooks left at home ● If students leave their Chromebook at home, they will be allowed to phone their parent/guardian to bring it to school. ● If unable to contact parents, the student will have the opportunity to use a temporary replacement Chromebook from the Help Desk if one is available. ● Repeat violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action. 4b: Chromebooks under repair ● Loaner Chromebooks may be issued to students when they leave their Chromebook for repair at the Help Desk. ● Students using loaner Chromebooks will be responsible for any damages incurred while in possession of the student. A student will pay the full replacement cost (including all components: charger, battery, and case) if it is lost or stolen. 4c: Charging your Chromebook ● Chromebooks must be brought to school each day fully charged. ● Students need to charge their Chromebooks each evening. ● Repeat violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action. ● Limited charging stations will be available for emergency use only. 4d: Backgrounds and Password ● Inappropriate media may not be used as a screensaver or background. ● Presence of guns, weapons, pornographic materials, inappropriate language, alcohol, drug, and gang related symbols or pictures will result in disciplinary actions. ● Take care to protect your password. Do not share your password. 4e: Sound ● Sound must be muted at all times unless permission is obtained from the teacher for instructional purposes. ● Headphones may be used at the discretion of the teacher. 4f: Printing ● Digital sharing of documents is encouraged, printing is discouraged. ● Students may use the Library Media Center printer with teacher's permission during class or with the permission of the Library Media Technology Specialist. ● Printing is done through Google Cloud Print. Students using Google Drive to work on their documents will not need to save their work, as Drive will save each keystroke as the work is being completed. It will be used at the discretion responsibility of the teacherstudent to maintain the integrity of their files and keep proper backups. 4f: Printing ● Digital sharing Students will be trained on proper file management procedures. When collaborating on shared documents, students need to be appropriate and considerate of documents other people’s work. Personalizing the Chromebook Chromebooks must remain free of any decorative writing, drawing, stickers, paint, tape, or labels that are not the property of St. Mary’s Assumption School. Spot checks for compliance will be done by teachers, administration, or the Technology Coordinator at any time. If there is encourageddamage to the device, printing students are responsible for repair or replacement. Software on Chromebooks Originally Installed Software Chromebook software is discourageddelivered via the Chrome Web Store. ● Students may use These are web-based applications that do not require installation space on a hard drive. The software originally installed on the Library Media Center printer with teacher's permission during class or Chromebook must remain on the Chromebook in usable condition and easily accessible at all times. All Chromebooks are supplied with the permission latest build of Google Chrome Operating System (OS), and many other applications useful in an educational environment.
