Chromebook Undergoing Repair. Under certain circumstances a loaner Chromebook may be issued to students when they leave their Chromebook for repair. There may be a delay in getting a Chromebook should the school not have enough to loan. If no loaner is available, students are still responsible for all work assigned by teachers.

A limited number of “loaner” Chromebooks are available so having a “loaner” is not guaranteed. Exceptions to this practice will be based upon whether the Chromebook requires routine maintenance and repairs or was damaged due to negligence or abuse.

Disciplinary Measures: Inappropriate use of Chromebooks will be dealt with through standard disciplinary practices. SMSS reserves the right to monitor and inspect the devices consistent with the policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook. Any inspection of graphics, videos, written content, or the like shall be reviewed by SMSS administrators. A student’s noncompliance with the expectations outlined herein will result in SMSS reclaiming the device from the student; in such a case the offending individual would face disciplinary measures consistent with the policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook. Use will be terminated if inappropriate, defamatory, abusive, obscene, profane, or illegal material is found on the school-issued Chromebook. Teachers, upon approval from the principal, may set additional requirements for Chromebooks. Usage is a privilege, not a right. Personal Health & Safety: Take frequent breaks when using the Chromebook for long periods of time. Look away from the Chromebook approximately every fifteen minutes. Do not provide personal information to anyone over the Internet. Do not share your passwords with anyone. Parents/guardians will be given the student’s login name and password so they can supervise the student’s use of the Chromebook.
Chromebook Undergoing Repair. If a Chromebook needs repair, a Chromebook damaged form must be filled out at the high school office along with the damaged Chromebook. Screen repairs fees will be required, see page 1. It is important that students keep their school data synced to the Google Drive Cloud to ensure documents and class projects will not be lost. Personal data that cannot be replaced should be kept at home on an external storage device. Students need to report any technical issues with their Chromebook to the Clintondale High School office and fill out a technical maintenance form. The high school secretary will report the issue to Clintondale’s Technology Department for the services of the following types of technical related issues including: Password Identification, user account support, coordination of warranty repair, hardware maintenance and repair, operating system or software configuration support, restoring Chromebook to factory default, and system software update.
Chromebook Undergoing Repair. In the case of a repair, a set number of loaner Chromebooks will be available to check-out. Students will sign a Loaner Agreement. Only a small number of Chromebooks are set aside for this purpose. There is no guarantee that a loaner will be available. In the case of damage due to neglect or abuse, a loaner device may not be permitted. ● Students are responsible for making sure their Chromebooks are fully charged each school day. ● Repeated violations of this charging procedure (for a minimum of 3 days) will result in students being required to "checkout" their Chromebook from the technology support staff every day for 3 weeks. In these cases, students will not be allowed to use their school issued Chromebook or take the device home during the 3 week period. ● In the cases where the battery does run down, students may be able to charge their device in a classroom. Personalized backgrounds and screensavers are permitted, however inappropriate or provocative images including but not limited to pornographic images, guns, weapons, inappropriate language, threatening language, drug, alcohol, or gang related images are not permitted and will result in disciplinary action.
