Variation after Commencement of Leave. After commencing maternity leave, an employee may vary the period of her maternity leave, once without the consent of her employer and otherwise with the consent of her employer. A minimum of fourteen days’ notice must be given, although an employer may accept less notice if convenient. The conditions relating to variation of maternity leave are derived from Section 64 of the Industrial Relations Act 1996.
