Violence in the Workplace. M-1 (a) Violence shall be defined as any incident in which an employee is abused, threatened or assaulted during the course of their employment. The Hospital agrees that these incidents will not be condoned in the workplace. Any employee who believes their situation was abusive shall report this to their immediate supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation. (b) The parties agree that if incidents involving an aggressive patient or visitor occurs, such action will be recorded and reviewed at the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Reasonable steps within the control of the Hospital will follow to address the legitimate health and safety concerns of the nurses presented in that forum. The parties further agree that suitable subjects for discussion at the Hospital Association Committee will include aggressive patients. (c) Within three (3) days of being notified that an employee has been assaulted while performing their work, the Occupational Health and Safety Department shall notify the Bargaining Unit President or designate, in writing. The assaulted employee may choose to have their name remain confidential. Updated statistics on numbers of staff assaulted while performing work will be brought to each meeting of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. (d) When an employee, in the exercise of their functions, suffers damage to their personal belongings (clothing, watch, glasses, contact lenses or other prosthesis, etc.), the Hospital shall provide for replacement or repair at no cost to the employee. The employee will endeavour to present their claim to the Hospital within seven (7) days after the event, unless it was impossible for them to do so during this period.

(d) When an employeeThe Centre will ensure that all assaults resulting in injury are reported to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) in accordance with WSIB policy. (e) The Centre, with the nurse’s consent, will inform the Bargaining Unit President within three (3) days of any nurse who has been assaulted while performing their work. Such information shall be submitted, in writing, to the exercise Association as soon as possible. (f) The Centre will provide reimbursement for replacement of their functionsdamages incurred to the employee’s personal property, suffers damage to their personal belongings (clothing, watch, glassessuch as eyeglasses, contact lenses or other prosthesis, etc.), the Hospital shall provide for replacement or repair at no cost to the employeeripped uniforms, personal clothing, as a result of being assaulted while performing their work. The employee above replacement will endeavour to be of equal or reasonable value. The nurse will present their claim to the Hospital Centre within seven (7) days after the event, unless it was impossible for them to do so during this period.
