Volunteers and Bargaining Unit Work. It is agreed that volunteers have a role to fill in the operation of a long-term care facility and are an important link to the community being served. Volunteers shall be supernumerary to established positions in the bargaining unit and will not result in the layoff of bargaining unit employees, nor will volunteers be used to fill established positions within the bargaining unit. It is further agreed that the current practice regarding the use of volunteers, as of the date of execution of this Agreement, is consistent with the above.
