Ability to be impartial definition

Ability to be impartial means that although an applicant may have strong views, and may have participated in social or political causes, the applicant has the capacity and willingness, while serving as a member of the commission, to set aside his or her personal views and all of the following considerations in order to evaluate information with an open mind and make decisions that are fair to everyone affected, including, but not limited to, the establishment of legislative and State Board of Equalization districts that are in compliance with the United States Constitution, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (commencing with section 1971 of title 42 of the United States Code), and the criteria set forth in subdivision (d) of section 2 of Article XXI of the California Constitution:

  • Independent Legal Counsel means an attorney or firm of attorneys, selected in accordance with the provisions of Section 1(c) hereof, who shall not have otherwise performed services for the Company or Indemnitee within the last three years (other than with respect to matters concerning the rights of Indemnitee under this Agreement, or of other indemnitees under similar indemnity agreements).

  • Expert witness or “expert” means a person who is retained to render an opinion regarding an issue relevant to a case, whether or not the person actually testifies in court.
