More Definitions of Activated sludge

Activated sludge means a biological sewage treatment process in which a mixture of sewage and sludge floc, produced in a raw or settled sewage by the growth of zoogloea and other organisms, is agitated and aerated in the presence of a sufficient concentration of dissolved oxygen, followed by sed- imentation. This definition includes but is not limited to: conventional activated sludge, extended aeration, step aeration, contact stabilization, Kraus process, Hatfield process, complete mix, high-rate aeration and oxidation ditches.
Activated sludge means the suspended biomass containing living microbial organisms used in the Aeration Basin to degrade and remove dissolved organics from the wastewater.
Activated sludge means a biological wastewater treatment process in which a mixture of wastewater and activated sludge is agitated and aerated and includes extended aeration and oxidation ditch treatment processes.
