This service Contract is part of the overall Affordable Housing Strategy (June 2018) for the creation and development of affordable housing programs, which result in the creation and preservation of housing units throughout Orange County.
The Affordable Housing Strategy, aka Housing Funding Strategy is attached hereto as Exhibit 1.
The City policies and initiatives referenced in the SPA include: • OCP Update (2014); • Surrey City Centre Plan (2017); • Transportation network improvements, e.g., 100 Avenue widening in support of rapid transit on 104 Avenue (2016); and • Master Plan for Housing the Homeless, MOU with BC Housing, and City-wide Affordable Housing Strategy (2015 to 2018).
AND WHEREAS Ontario continues to transform and improve the housing and homelessness system through its Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy Update and Local 10-year Housing and Homelessness Plans, including key provincial and municipal investments, and by working with the federal government to achieve better housing solutions, as further set out in the FPT Housing Partnership Framework.
As part of the Affordable Housing Strategy, the City will determine how many units of social housing will be targeted in the MLBE Corridor and whether such non-market housing is to be financed by developer contributions, partner contributions, and/or City contributions.
As part of the 2008 Provincial-Municipal Fiscal and Service Delivery Review (PMFSDR) and under Building Foundations: Building Futures – Ontario’s Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy (November 2010), the Province committed to work towards consolidating the existing patchwork of housing and homelessness programs to provide municipalities with more flexibility to address local needs.
Tasmania meets the requirements of sub-clause 17(a) and (b) of the Agreement through the following publicly available documents: Tasmania’s Affordable Housing Strategy 2015‑2025 Tasmania’s Affordable Housing Action Plan 2015‑2019 Tasmania’s Affordable Housing Action Plan 2019‑2023 Tasmania’s Housing Strategy (20‑year plan and Action Plan 3 to commence in 2023).
The strategy, titled Affordable Housing Strategy 2010-2020: Opening Doors to Affordable Housing, covers initiatives across the following focus areas: Strengthening social housing; Improving housing supply; and Enabling successful transition through the social housing system and wider continuum.
The Affordable Housing Strategy is the leading policy document to guide affordable housing initiatives in the City with the objective of increasing and protecting the supply of rental housing, particularly for low and moderate income households; addressing the potential loss of affordable rental housing; and creating a supportive environment for the development of affordable housing by the non-profit and private sector.
XXXXX’s eleven members have each developed a 10-Year Housing and Homelessness Plan that is supported by the legislation identified through the Housing Services Act and the Long-Term Affordable Housing Strategy (introduced in 2011 and updated in 2016).
