The above definition of autologous Bone Marrow Transplant specifically includes transplants wherein the transplant component is derived from circulating blood in lieu of, or in addition to, harvested directly from the bone marrow, a procedure commonly known as peripheral stem cell or progenitor cell transplant or rescue procedure.
No payment will be made for Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Transplant Benefits or evaluations unless We Authorize these services and the services are rendered by a Blue Distinction Center for Transplants (BDCT) for the specific organ or transplant or by a transplant facility in Our Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO Provider Network, unless otherwise approved by Us in writing.
