Bone Marrow Transplant definition

Bone Marrow Transplant means human blood precursor cells administered to a patient to restore normal hematological and immunological functions following ablative therapy. Human blood precursor cells may be obtained from the patient in an autologous transplant, or an allogeneic transplant from a medically acceptable related or unrelated donor, and may be derived from bone marrow, the circulating blood, or a combination of bone marrow and circulating blood. If chemotherapy is an integral part of the treatment involving bone marrow transplantation, the term ‘Bone Marrow Transplant’ includes the transplantation as well as the administration of chemotherapy and the chemotherapy medications. The term ‘Bone Marrow Transplant’ also includes any services or supplies relating to any treatment or therapy involving the use of high dose or intensive dose chemotherapy and human blood precursor cells and includes any and all Hospital, Physician or other Health Care Provider services which are rendered in order to treat the effects of, or complications arising from, the use of high dose or intensive dose chemotherapy or human blood precursor cells (e.g., Hospital room and board and ancillary services);
Bone Marrow Transplant means use of high dose chemotherapy and radiation in conjunction with transplant of autologuous bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells which originate in the bone marrow.
Bone Marrow Transplant means human blood precursor cells administered to a patient to restore normal hematological and immunological functions following ablative or nonablative therapy with curative or life-prolonging intent. Human blood precursor cells may be obtained from the patient in an autologous transplant or from a medically acceptable related or unrelated donor, and may be derived from bone marrow, circulating blood, or a combination of bone marrow and circulating blood. If chemotherapy is an integral part of the treatment involving bone marrow transplantation, the term “bone marrow transplant” includes both the transplantation and the chemotherapy. Loss means an event for which benefits are payable under this contract. A loss must occur while the member is covered under this contract.

  • No payment will be made for Organ, Tissue and Bone Marrow Transplant Benefits or evaluations unless We Authorize these services and the services are rendered by a Blue Distinction Center for Transplants (BDCT) for the specific organ or transplant or by a transplant facility in Our Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO Provider Network, unless otherwise approved by Us in writing.

  • Host Disease, Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant, Organ Transplant, and Hemorrhagic Fever.

  • Section 3: The employee group covered by this Agreement includes all registered nurses employed in the position of Bone Marrow Transplant Patient Coordinator.

  • The Emergency Bone Marrow Transplant Rider is included in the Blue Cross / Blue Shield coverage's.

  • The orientation may be at least four (4) weeks provided the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator nurse has not previously completed a nursing orientation program at the Ohio State University Hospitals within the last year.

  • This effort shall not apply to Temple University Hospital programs housed at other institutions, such as Bone Marrow Transplant.
