Child restraint definition

Child restraint means a seat belt for the use of a young person which is designed either to be fitted directly to a suitable anchorage or to be used in conjunction with a seat belt for an adult and held in place by the restraining action of that belt:
Child restraint means an arrangement of components which may comprise a combination of straps or flexible components with a securing buckle, adjusting devices, attachments, and in some cases a supplementary chair and/or an impact shield, capable of being anchored to a power driven vehicle. It is so designed as to diminish the risk of injury to the wearer, in the event of a collision or of abrupt deceleration of the vehicle by limiting the mobility of the wearer's body.
Child restraint means a safety device as defined in UN Regulation No. 44 or UN Regulation No. 129.

  • Child restraint systems may not be used in an emergency exit row, aisle seat or middle seat if the window seat is occupied.
