Chronic and Irreversible Kidney Failure definition

Chronic and Irreversible Kidney Failure means the end stage renal Disease with the Insured Person undergoing regular peritoneal dialysis or haemodialysis or having had renal transplantation.

The room shall not include kitchen, dining or sitting rooms.“Kidney Dialysis Clinic”shall mean a clinic which is legally authorized by the relevant government authority and provides haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis facilities for the treatment of Chronic and Irreversible Kidney Failure.“Physiotherapist”shall mean a physiotherapist who is, (a) duly qualified and registered with the Physiotherapists Board pursuant to the Physiotherapists (Registration and Disciplinary Procedure) Regulation (Cap. 359J of the Laws of Hong Kong) or a body of equivalent standing in jurisdictions outside Hong Kong (as reasonably determined by the Company in utmost good faith); and (b) legally authorized for rendering relevant physiotherapy service in Hong Kong or the relevant jurisdiction outside Hong Kong where the physiotherapy service is provided to the Insured Person, but in no circumstance shall include the following persons - the Insured Person, the Policy Holder, or an insurance intermediary, employer, employee, immediate family member or business partner of the Policy Holder and/or the Insured Person (unless approved in advance by the Company in writing). If the physiotherapist is not duly qualified and registered under the laws of Hong Kong or a body of equivalent standing in jurisdictions outside Hong Kong (as reasonably determined by the Company in utmost good faith), the Company shall exercise reasonable judgment to determine whether such physiotherapist shall nonetheless be considered qualified and registered.“Semi-private Room”shall mean a single or double occupancy room during the Confinement with a bath or shower room for sharing. The room shall not includekitchen, dining or sitting rooms.

  • Chronic toxicity means concurrent and delayed adverse effects that occur only as a result of a chronic exposure.

  • Catastrophic illness or “injury” means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee’s family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.

  • Catastrophic injury or illness means a life-threatening injury or illness of an employee or a member of an employee's immediate family that totally incapacitates the employee from work, as verified by a licensed physician, and forces the employee to exhaust all leave time earned by that employee, resulting in the loss of compensation from the state for the employee. Conditions that are short-term in nature, including, but not limited to, common illnesses such as influenza and the measles, and common injuries, are not catastrophic. Chronic illnesses or injuries, such as cancer or major surgery, that result in intermittent absences from work and that are long-term in nature and require long recuperation periods may be considered catastrophic.

  • Psychological abuse which shall mean conduct by a custodian intentionally or recklessly causing, by verbal or non-verbal conduct, a substantial diminution of a service recipient's emotional, social or behavioral development or condition, supported by a clinical assessment performed by a physician, psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, licensed clinical or master social worker or licensed mental health counselor, or causing the likelihood of such diminution. Such conduct may include but shall not be limited to intimidation, threats, the display of a weapon or other object that could reasonably be perceived by a service recipient as a means for infliction of pain or injury, in a manner that constitutes a threat of physical pain or injury, taunts, derogatory comments or ridicule.

  • Forcible felony means any crime defined in Iowa Code section 702.11. This includes felonious child endangerment, assault, murder, sexual abuse, kidnapping, robbery, arson in the first degree, or burglary in the first degree. Forcible felonies are not willful injury in violation of Iowa Code section 708.4, subsection 2; sexual abuse in the third degree committed between spouses; sexual abuse in violation of Iowa Code section 709.4, subsection 2, paragraph “c,” subparagraph (4); or sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist in violation of Iowa Code section 709.15.

  • Autism spectrum disorder means a neuro-developmental condition typically appearing in the first three years of life that significantly affects a person's ability to communicate, understand relationships and relate to others, and is frequently associated with unusual or stereotypical rituals or behaviours.
