Compatible Pollutant means BOD, suspended solids, pH, fecal coliform bacteria, and such additional pollutants as are now or may in the future be specified and controlled in the city's NPDES permit for its wastewater treatment works where sewer works have been designed and used to reduce or remove such pollutants.
Compatible Pollutant means biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, ph, and decal coliform bacteria, plus additional pollutants identiked in the NPDES Permit if the treatment works was designed to treat such pollutants, and in fact does remove such pollutants to a substantial degree. The term substantial degree is not subject to precise deknition, but generally contemplates removals in the order of eighty (80) percent or greater. Minor incidental removals in the order of ten (10) to thirty (30) percent are not considered substantial. Examples of the additional pollutants which may be considered compatible include:
Compatible Pollutant means a pollutant which, as determined by the POTW Manager, is susceptible to effective treatment by the POTW as designed, and which will not interfere with, or pass through, the POTW, and which is otherwise not incompatible with the treatment processes or in excess of the capacity at the POTW. The term “compatible” is a relative concept that must be determined on a case-by-case basis. In determining whether or not a pollutant is compatible with the POTW, the Manager may consider, without limitation, the nature and qualities of the pollutant, and the concentration, mass, and flow rate at which the pollutant is (or is proposed to be) discharged. Thus, for example, even pollutants such as BOD, fats, oils or grease, phosphorous, suspended solids, and fecal coliform bacteria, which are typically considered “compatible” may be determined incompatible, if discharged in concentrations or flows that would cause interference or pass through or exceed the POTW’s capacity. Specifically excluded from the definition of compatible pollutant are “heavy” metals, PCBs, and any pollutants that will likely contribute or cause operational or sludge disposal problems or unacceptable discharges to the receiving waters.
Examples of Compatible Pollutant in a sentence

Any Pollutant which is not a Compatible Pollutant as defined herein.
Compatible Pollutant: Refers to biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, pH and fecal coliform bacteria; plus any additional pollutants identified in the WPCF’s NPDES permit, where the WPCF is designed to treat such pollutants and, in fact does treat such pollutants to the degree required by the NPDES permit.

More Definitions of Compatible Pollutant
Compatible Pollutant means biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, pH, fecal coliform bacteria, plus additional pollutants identified in PVSC's NJPDES Permit, if the Treatment Works is designed to treat such pollutants and in fact, does remove such wastes to a substantial degree.
Compatible Pollutant means a substance amenable to treatment in the wastewater treatment plant such as biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, and fecal coliform bacteria, plus additional pollutants identified in the NPDES permit if the publicly owned treatment works was designed to treat such pollutants, and in fact does remove such pollutant to a substantial degree. Examples of such additional pollutants may include: chemical oxygen demand, total organic carbon, phosphorus and phosphorus compounds, nitrogen compounds, fats, oils and grease of animal or vegetable origin.
Compatible Pollutant means wastewater constituents which the wastewater treatment plant is designed to treat, and wastewater substances which will not interfere with the treatment system or pass through the treatment system inadequately treated.
Compatible Pollutant for wastewater discharges means biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, pH, and fecal coliform bacteria, plus additional pollutants identified in an NPDESa National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater discharge permit if the publicly owned treatment works is designed to treat such pollutants, and in fact does remove such pollutants to a substantial degree. The term “substantial degree” is not subject to precise definition, but generally means contemplated removals in the order of 80 percent or greater.
Compatible Pollutant means BOD, suspended solids, pH, fecal coliform bacteria, and such additional pollutants as are now or may in the future be specified and controlled in the town's NPDES permit for its

Compatible Pollutant means BOD, suspended solids, pH and fecal coliform bacteria, and any additional pollutants identified in the water pollution control facility's NPDES permit where the water pollution control facility is designed to treat such pollutants and in fact does treat such pollutants to the degree required by the NPDES permit.
