Compensatory storage definition

Compensatory storage means a volume not previously used for flood storage and which shall be incrementally equal to the theoretical volume of flood water at each elevation, up to and including the base flood elevation, which would be displaced by the proposed project. Such compensatory volume shall have an unrestricted hydraulic connection to the same waterway or water body. Further, with respect to waterways, such compensatory volume shall be provided within the same reach of the river, stream, or creek.
Compensatory storage means the mitigation of the placement of fill within the floodplain by providing additional storage by lowering the ground storage to compensate for the volume of the floodplain area that has been filled in. Compensatory storage shall be at hydraulically equivalent sites at a ratio of 1.5 (storage) to 1 (fill).
Compensatory storage means a volume not previously used for flood storage and which shall be

More Definitions of Compensatory storage

Compensatory storage means new, excavated storage volume equivalent to any flood storage capacity which has been or would be eliminated by filling or grading within the
Compensatory storage means an area outside the area of immediate development set aside for floodwater storage lost as a result of the development.
Compensatory storage means a volume not previously used for flood storage that must be incrementally equal to the theoretical volume of flood water at each elevation, up to and including the base flood elevation, that would be displaced by the proposed project. Such compensatory volume must:
Compensatory storage means an excavated, hydrologically and hydraulically equivalent volume of storage created to offset the loss of existing flood storage;
Compensatory storage means an artifically excavated, hydraulically equivalent volume of storage within the SFHA used to balance the loss of natural flood storage capacity when artificial fill or structures are placed within the floodplain. The uncompensated loss of natural floodplain storage can increase off-site floodwater elevations and flows;
Compensatory storage means new, excavated storage volume equivalent to any flood storage capacity which has been or would be eliminated by filling or grading within the flood plain. Equivalent shall mean that the storage removed shall be replaced by equal volume between corresponding one foot contour intervals that are hydraulically connected to the floodway through their entire depth.
Compensatory storage means the volume of the loss of floodwater storage due to filling in the special flood hazard area shall be offset by providing a volume of flood storage by excavation or other compensatory measures at or adjacent to the development site.
