Examples of DATA 2000 Waiver in a sentence
Designate prescriber(s) of buprenorphine for the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), and to ensure the designated provider(s) prescribing physician, nurse practitioners, and/or physician assistants participate in DATA 2000 Waiver Training and obtain the waiver to prescribe provide buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder for each designated prescriber within 30 days of project start date.

To demonstrate capacity to provide medications for SUD, bidders must hire at least one medical professional (MD, APN, or PA) who possesses a DATA 2000 Waiver.
Physicians and physician assistants seeking to provide MAT (i.e., buprenorphine) to treat opioid addiction may apply for a DATA 2000 Waiver through the Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMSA).
