Distant Hire definition

Distant Hire is any person who resides outside the geographical definition of a “Nearby Hire” in a given production area. The IATSE and the Employers agree to cooperate in an effort to resolve the status of those persons originally hired as “Local Hires” who may fall within the definition ofNearby Hires” merely because of a change in shooting location when the production office remains in the same place.
Distant Hire. A distant hire is any employee who lives more than seventy-five (75) miles from the event location so assigned. Such location shall be considered a Distant Location. Employer shall provide Distant Hires overnight lodging as necessary and, regardless, a per diem of fifty-five dollars ($55.00) for each day or fraction thereof spent traveling. Core Traveling Crew on professional sports broadcasts shall receive a per diem of seventy dollars ($70.00) for each day or fraction thereof spent traveling.
