Local Hires definition

Local Hires means individuals identified in Section 3.5, who are employed by Contractors as craft employees to perform Project Work and have priority in being dispatched by the respective Unions.

Local Hires or “local workers” means permanent resident aliens and United States citizens permanently residing in the Commonwealth and available for employment in the manufacture or assembly of textiles or textile products.

Local Hires means those employees whose principal place of residence is within 100km of the Employers shop. For employees considered to be local hires no compensation is required.

Examples of Local Hires in a sentence

  • All of the foregoing hiring procedures, including related practices affecting apprenticeship, shall be operated so as to consider the goals of the City to encourage employment of Local Hires on Project Work, and to facilitate the ability of all Contractors to meet their employment needs.

  • In recognition of the fact that the City and the communities surrounding Project Work will be impacted by the construction of the Project Work, the Parties agree to support the hiring of Local Hires for Project Work as further described in this Section 3.5.

  • The Parties recognize the need to maintain continuing support of the programs designed to develop adequate numbers of competent workers in the construction industry, the obligation to capitalize on the availability of the Local Hires, and the opportunities to provide continuing work under the construction program.

  • To these ends, the Parties will facilitate, encourage, and assist Local Hires to commence and progress in Labor/Management Apprenticeship and/or training programs in the construction industry leading to participation in such apprenticeship programs.

  • When Local Hires are requested by Contractors, the Unions will refer such craft workers regardless of their place in the Unions’ hiring halls’ list and normal referral procedures.

Related to Local Hires

  • Local Upgrades means modifications or additions of facilities to xxxxx any local thermal loading, voltage, short circuit, stability or similar engineering problem caused by the interconnection and delivery of generation to the Transmission System. Local Upgrades shall include:

  • Local Union means a bargaining unit representing employees at an institution that has ratified a Collective Agreement that includes this Common Agreement.

  • Local Calling Area is a geographically defined area as established by the effective tariffs of CenturyLink as approved by the Commission.

  • Local Loop refers to a transmission facility between the main distribution frame [cross- connect], or its equivalent, in an Embarq Central Office or wire center, and up to the demarcation point (e.g., Network Interface Device) at a customer’s premises, to which CLEC is granted exclusive use. This includes all electronics, optronics and intermediate devices (including repeaters and load coils) used to establish the transmission path to the customer premises. Local loops include Copper Loops, Hybrid Loops, DS1 loops, DS3 loops, FTTC Loops and FTTH Loops.

  • Local Service Provider (LSP means the LEC that provides retail local Exchange Service to an End User. The LSP may or may not provide any physical network components to support the provision of that End User’s service.

  • Local Services means those services, facilities or things which are under the jurisdiction of the municipality and are related to a plan of subdivision or within the area to which the plan relates in respect of the lands under Sections 41, 51 or 53 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 19990, Chap. P.13, as amended, or any successor thereof;

  • Local Labour means skilled, semi-skilled workers of all trades engaged by the Contractor on the Site for the purpose of or in connection with the Contract or engaged full time by the Contractor off the site for the Purpose of or in connection with the Contract (by way of illustration but not limitation: workers engaged full time in any office, store, workshop or quarry).
