Force definition

Force means the use or threatened use of a weapon; the use of such physical strength or violence as is sufficient to overcome, restrain, or injure a person; or the use of a threat of harm sufficient to coerce or compel submission by the victim. D.C. Code § 22-3001(5).
Force means physical force, violence, threat, intimidation or coercion.

Examples of Force in a sentence

  • If by reason of Force Majeure, either party hereto shall be rendered unable wholly or in part to carry out its obligations under this Agreement through no fault of its own then such party shall give notice and full particulars of Force Majeure in writing to the other party within a reasonable time after occurrence of the event or cause relied upon.

  • Upon delivering such notice, the obligation of the affected party, so far as it is affected by such Force Majeure as described, shall be suspended during the continuance of the inability then claimed but for no longer period, and such party shall endeavor to remove or overcome such inability with all reasonable dispatch.

  • Force Majeure Events may result in interruptions in your service.


More Definitions of Force

Force means any violence, compulsion, or constraint physically exerted by any means upon or against a person or thing.
Force means any physical coercion used to effect, influence or persuade an individual to comply with an order from an officer. The term shall not include the ordinary handcuffing of an individual who does not resist.
