Garage sales definition

Garage sales means and include all general sales, open to the public, conducted from or on any premises in any residential zone, as defined by the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Lafayette, Tennessee, for the purpose of disposing of personal property including, but not limited to, all sales entitled "garage," "lawn," "yard," "attic," "porch," "room," "backyard," "patio," or "rummage" sale. This definition does not include the operation of such businesses carried on in a non-residential zone where the person conducting the sale does so on a regular day-to-day basis. This definition shall not include a situation where no more than five (5) specific items or articles are held out for sale and all media advertisements of such sale specifically names those items to be sold.
Garage sales means sales of tangible personal property, except automotive vehicles, occurring at the residence of the seller, where the property to be sold was originally purchased for use by members of the household where such sale is being conducted. The term includes, but is not limited to, yard sales, estate sales, and block sales.
Garage sales means the sale of household goods or items by any resident who sells any such goods for a period of less than seven days, and where such sales occur on or within the residential property of the seller. The term “Garage Sales” shall also include lawn or yard sales.
