LED module definition

LED module means a light source module containing as light sources only LEDs. However it may optionally contain one or more holders for approved replaceable light sources.
LED module means an assembly having no cap and incorporating one or more LED packages on a printed circuit board. The assembly may have electrical, optical, mechanical and thermal components, interfaces and control gear.
LED module means an arrangement of one or more LED Chips or LED Components mounted to a circuit carrier, such as a printed circuit board (PCB) or flex foil, including passive or active components, including drive, communication, processing or control circuitry, attached thereto, as well as thermal management components and technologies. For clarity, “LED Module” does not include Luminaires.

  • Eye Safety:  According to IEC 62471:2006 standard Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems our LED modules could be classified either to Exempt Group (no hazard) or to Risk Group 1 (low risk)  Great care has to still be taken when directly viewing a LED module that is driven with high current.
