LICENSED INDEPENDENT PRACTITIONERS definition

LICENSED INDEPENDENT PRACTITIONERS. (“LIP”) means individuals other than Medical Staff members who are permitted by law and by the Hospital to provide patient care services without direction or collaboration/supervision, within the scope of their license and consistent with the clinical privileges granted. Licensed Independent Practitioners may also include those Physicians not appointed to the Medical Staff who seek to exercise certain limited clinical privileges at the Hospital under the conditions set forth in the Credentials Policy (i.e., moonlighting residents). See Appendix A of this Policy.
LICENSED INDEPENDENT PRACTITIONERS means all those Allied Health Practitioners who are licensed or certified under state law, authorized to function independently in the Hospital, and granted clinical privileges. These individuals require no formal or direct supervision by a physician.

LICENSED INDEPENDENT PRACTITIONERS means a licensed physician, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, dentist, or podiatrist who is granted permission to practice in the Hospital through the medical staff bylaws and who is licensed in the State of Wisconsin and trained and qualified to exercise judgment within areas of his/her professional competence and who is qualified to render direct or indirect medical care independently.
