Mechanism definition

Mechanism means the policy, legal and financial tools that are used to bring about particular actions. Mechanisms have often been put in place to implement European directives, which have been established to deal with problems that exist in common with other countries in the European Union. Others have been set up to manage the way that particular problems occur in England and Wales.
