The primary duties of the Meter Reader are to read the meters in accord with the schedules provided them by the Company.
If a Water Meter Reader is not provided a city vehicle nor an MTA parking placard, the City will reimburse the employee for reasonable parking expenses.
When the remaining Meter Reader position becomes vacant, that is there are no longer any employees active or on layoff that are regularly classified as Meter Reader, the position will not be posted and the work will be contracted out, and employees being laid off will no longer have the right to displace the meter-reading contractor, as there are no longer any regular employees classified as Meter Reader.
