Natural areas definition

Natural areas means undeveloped or wild lands and those lands preserved or restored and managed for their natural features, including but not limited to parks, forests, refuges, grass- lands, wetlands and shorelines on public and private lands.
Natural areas means limited areas of land which have retained their wilderness character, although not necessarily completely natural and undisturbed, or have rare or vanishing species of plant or animal life or similar features of interest which are worthy of preservation for the use of present and future residents of the State. Natural areas held by the State shall include and be designated as one or more of the following 3 types and the location of each shall be described in the designation:

  • Natural areas and existing water bodies may be used for retention/detention purposes when not in conflict with environmental (see subsection 4.2.2.4), water quality, (see Sections 4.2.4 - 4.2.4.5 herein) or public use considerations.

Natural areas means areas that have, to a significant degree, retained their natural character and are important in preserving rare or vanishing flora, fauna, geological, natural historical, or similar features of scientific or educational value.
