Newly Developed Renewable Energy Resource definition

Newly Developed Renewable Energy Resource shall have the meaning given to that term in R.I.G.L. § 39-26.1- 2(6).
Newly Developed Renewable Energy Resource means, pursuant to R.I.G.L. § 39-26.1-2(6), an electrical generation unit that uses exclusively an Eligible Renewable Energy Resource, and either (x) has neither begun operation, nor have the developers of the unit implemented investment or lending agreements necessary to finance the construction of the unit or (y) is located within the state of Rhode Island and obtained project financing on or after January 1, 2009.
Newly Developed Renewable Energy Resource means electrical generation units that use exclusively an Eligible Renewable Energy Resource as defined in R.I. Gen. Laws § 39-26-5 and the Commission’s "Rules and Regulations Governing the Implementation of a Renewable Energy Standard" and that have neither begun operation nor have the developers of the units implemented investment or lending agreements necessary to finance the construction of the unit; provided, however, that any projects using Eligible Renewable Energy Resources and located within the state of Rhode Island which obtain project financing on or after January 1, 2009, shall qualify as Newly Developed Renewable Energy Resources for purposes of the first solicitation under R.I. Gen. Laws § 39- 26.1-3.

  • Renewable energy resource means a resource that naturally replenishes over a human, not a geological, time frame and that is ultimately derived from solar power, water power, or wind power. Renewable energy resource does not include petroleum, nuclear, natural gas, or coal. A renewable energy resource comes from the sun or from thermal inertia of the earth and minimizes the output of toxic material in the conversion of the energy and includes, but is not limited to, all of the following:

  • Renewable energy resources means energy derived from solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and hydroelectricity. A fuel cell using hydrogen derived from these eligible resources is also an eligible electric generation technology. Fossil and nuclear fuels and their derivatives are not eligible resources.
