Operational aircraft definition

Operational aircraft means a Federal aircraft that is safe for flight or, in the owning executive agency’s determination, can economically be made safe for flight. This definition refers to the aircraft’s flight capability, not its mission-support capability. An aircraft temporarily out of service for mainte- nance or repair is considered operational.
